Every now and then the nuances of being left handed/right brained take a bit of a toll and on those gray days I become somebody that thinks they know search engine optimization and in typical Curious Left Handed ADD George and compulsively seek more left handed blogs, studies, then see whats up with the homies on Facebook, check the Facebook Wikipedia article, pick up PC Mag, and eventually find my way back to some left-handed news then realize its been 3 days.
Okay, got the digression out of my system - but back to those gray days I realized the material has no gray, no real middle ground. Usually it gives me that little kick to read articles that I very likely have already viewed; all the great things about being left handed. But it was time for a reality check; what to make of the collection of information and the conclusion is at its simplest - confusing and cause for concern.
Here we have an article that presents an idealist left handed utopia. Wild guess, the author is left handed? If so, the bias and accuracy of this article becomes highly questionable. On the other hand, this article coming from the WSJ has the makings of what one would expect from this level of journalism. What we find is a stark contrast and unsettling left handed studies and reports that I immediately try to cherry pick and manipulate for my own mental satisfaction. I have noticed that the left handed who are aware of the science and psychology (IE right brained) often have an inflated pride about being left handed. Studies aside, it is fact to me when individuals are lacking they seem to overcompensate. For example, the official diagnosis of Little Manus Syndromisis from a life time of knowing short people with a tough guy persona is absolute.

Game On! Or maybe...Left Handed Mouse
Dont really know what to make of this. Razer, a manufacturer of gaming hardware, is apparently making a gaming mouse for people who use a mouse with their left hand. First, if you use a mouse with your left hand, damn you are left handed. Controlling a mouse in my left hand is like talking behind someones back when they're behind my back - awkward. Its exactly like trying to get use a fork, pen, or pool cue with my right hand. Oddly enough, as a former Major League ball player (Little League Majors) if a tried to throw a baseball with my left hand it would actually go backwards.
Any other left mouse operators? Damn I wish I was smart and knew stuff, my left handed curiosity demands answers that requires more attention span than I have.
No doubt a cool thing for the most left-handed, most geeky individuals ever.
I used to think I was into PC gaming, turns out I'm just a console gamer who prefers his games on a custom built PC. I read, and by 'read' I mean 'didnt read', this detailed six part review on the Razer Naga MMO gaming mouse, and am currently torrenting (relax copyright dickheads) a 50gb Star Trek extravaganza while practicing Boba fett moves inside World of Warcraft while dressed as a Teran Marine from Starcraft.
Damn 10,000 fellow lefties or 2 hackers mobilized with the click of their non Razer Naga lefty mouse and now can game like normal human beings. This is the beginning of a movement, of the Razer Naga MMO ultra lefty mouse to - the recycling bin or your local thrift store. Now the possibilities are limitless - today Razer Naga MMO gaming mouse, tomorrow scissors!!

Lefties, Southpaws, Weirdos, Geniuses....what up??
Im a lefty, never really think about it - unless I am writing with a sharpie or some other slow drying writing device and the result is the smearing of already poor handwriting and a hand covered in ink. Grr its annoying! Well, this is my first post for this blog and I have already digressed as I am sure to do again and again. I am no scientist but I believe lefties are notorious for conversational digressions (and making up words to sound smart). I refer to "scientist" here of course as a cliche but also to highlight my general concept of this blog. (disclaimer: anything i say is an opinion)...In my experience science has not made very significant strides in bringing awareness to the public of the left handed experience. I have grown a little tired of scouring Google for "left handed, southpaw, handed left, 'handed' +not right +left, etc". While I am more than grateful to have access to so much information I still feel there is much to be desired. My lefty friends are strange, quirky individuals like myself and I bring up their handedness and the response is either blank stares or laughter depending on to amount of alcohol consumed should the topic arise.
Yea, that as kind of another rambling digression so let me try this again. First, studies show that the characteristics exhibited commonly among lefties (impulsiveness, non-linear thought process, creativity) is really the result of being "right-brained." I believe 90% of the population is "left-brained" and it is that side of the brain responsible for organization, logic and what not. While handedness is a good indicator of which hemisphere of the brain is dominant it is not the single deciding factor. A dominant left ear I believe can be an indicator, heck I think you can just be right brained just cause. The bottom line is I have picked up these pieces of information since this became an interesting subject so everything I have said is just from memory, I promise and I encourage everyone to give credit to sources. A professor of mine would ask on the first day of a course as we reviewed requirements and what not, "is it okay to copy in this class?" Of course everyone, kissing ass (well me too) responded with oh no absolutely not. Then my professor would respond "Not only is it okay but it is a requirement. however, you have to admit you copied and from whom you copied." Geez another digression...okay here goes fellow ten percenters who hate using scissors but love to say the "president is left handed" please share share share. Scientists or other researchers and scholars I would love to have your input, and everyone else. We do not discriminate against you rigid step by step thinking righties - your thoughts more than welcome. Hopefully we can all learn a little something of the most overlooked, mysterious and interesting minority in the world (isnt that something were the minority no matter where we go) and maybe take over the world...muhahaha nah that would be a disaster...
